A representative of the Health Ministry said in a hearing in the Knesset that Hamas gave hostages sedatives before their release to the Red Cross “to make them seem happy.”

Families of hostages also participated in the health committee hearing. Shir Sigal, whose mother was released from captivity, and whose father is still held hostage, emphasized the harsh conditions in which hostages are held. “My mother came back with testimonies I am unable to hear. They were handcuffed, they were abused, they were not given medical aid, they were not given food, or water. Three hours drive from here, there is a holocaust.”

Sigal called on the health ministry to issue “a clear statement for the release of all hostages.”
