MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Russia and Turkey have been able to start the process of ironing out relations after a difficult period, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his message extending New Year greetings to his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“In his New Year message addressed to the president of the Republic of Turkey, Vladimir Putin noted with satisfaction that, after a difficult period in relations between Russia and Turkey, the two countries have been able to launch the process of their gradual normalization, restoration of cooperation along all lines in the political, economic, humanitarian, scientific, technical and other areas,” the Kremlin press service said.

The Russian president also voiced confidence that, relying on the results that have been achieved, the two countries will continue efficient work to boost bilateral ties and will actively cooperate in tackling the topical regional and international issues for the benefit of the two peoples and in line with promoting security and stability on the Eurasian continent.
