Starship Technologies presented its first autonomous delivery robot on Monday during the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival on March 10-19 in Austin, Texas. The US company’s “hi-tech deliveryman” is a six-wheeled robot that can deliver groceries and small packages to destinations up to five kilometers (3 miles) away in from five to 30 minutes using “a combination of localization and computer vision,” as well as an embedded mapping system. The user can even follow the robot’s route with a smartphone app.
